40th Open & 18th Women National Team Chess Championship-2020

Venue: GSC Bank, Naranpura, Ahmedabad Date: 7 to 13 February, 2020 PSPB team both in MEN and WOMEN continue it's victory towards CHAMPIONSHIP The said tournament is organised by Gujarat State Chess Association under the aegis of All India Chess Federation. After the completion of 6th round in women PSPB team leads with 6 pt. In the said team Gomes Mary Ann drew with Kiran Manisha Mohanty while bad day for Padmini Rout as she lost the game against Swati Ghate. Airports Authority of India and Tamilnadu B team stoods on 2nd and 3rd position with 4 pt. each. In men team PSPB team leads with 8 pts. Major credit goes to their star players Abhijeet Gupta and Karthikeyan Murli. Abhijeet Gupta beats Mayank Sharma. This puts Railways and Airports Authority of India teams on 2nd and 3rd position with 6 pt. and 5 pt. respectively. The said tournament will conclude on 13.2.2020.

Venue: GSC Bank, Naranpura, Ahmedabad Date: 7 to 13 February, 2020 PSPB TEAM CLINCHES THE CHAMPION TITLE BOTH IN OPEN AND WOMEN CATEGORY The said tournament was successfully organised by Gujarat State Chess Association under the aegis of All India Chess Federation and concluded on 13.2.2020. There are 9 rounds in open category while 7 rounds in women category. In women's category PSPB team clinches the Championship title with 7 pts. Their star players Gomes Mary Ann and Padmini Rout showed outstanding performance in last round. Both these players beat Anupam Sreekumar and Anjitha Krishnakunar respectively in last round. Airports Authority of India and Air India team stood on 2nd and 3rd position respectively with 5 pt. each. In men's team also PSPB clinches the Championship title with 9 pt. Also outstanding performance given by Adhiban B., Abhijeet Gupta and Karthikeyan Murli and that puts their team on the top. All these players beats Sidhant Mohapatra, Mayank Sharma and Sahoo Utkal Ranjan respectively in last round. Airports Authority of India and Railways B team stood on 2nd and 3rd position respectively with 6 pt. each. State selected players were given free accommodation at tournament venue iteself. Total 270 players were participated in this prestigious event. Total 17 teams in women and 36 teams in mens category participated in this event. There are 17 GMs, 20 IMs, 8 WGMs and 8 WIMs took part in this national tournament. Total cash prize of Rs.3.75 lakh were awarded to top 3 teams (Men & Women) alongwith medals and trophy. The said prizes were awrded by Rakesh Shah (President, Gujarat State Chess Association), Bhavesh Patel (C.E.O., Gujarat State Chess Association), Jayesh Modi (Vice President, Gujarat State Chess Association), Rajesh Chavda (Secretary, Gujarat State Chess Association), Mayur Patel (Vice President, Gujarat State Chess Association), Samir Shah (Treasurer, Gujarat State Chess Association), Sekhar Chandra Sahu (Vice President, All India Chess Federation), Tejas Bakre (1st GM of Gujarat) and Ratinam Anantram (Chief Arbiter) to all the winners and congratulate them for their bright future in Chess.

"V Popular" Gujarat State Selection for National Senior (Open) Chess Championship-2020

Venue : Karnavati Club, S. G. Highway, Ahmedabad Date: 29 February to 4 March, 2020 MANUSH SHAH CLINCHED THE CHAMPIONSHIPTITLE WITH 7.5 PT. This tournament was organized by Gujarat State Chess Association in association with V Popular. In the final round of match between Manush and Kartavya ends with draw and Manush got 7.5 pt. at the end of the tournament. Kartavya Anadkat stood on 2nd position with 7.5 pt. also while Joy Pankaj Shah, Karan Trivedi and Ankit Chudasama stood on 3rd, 4th and 5th position respectively with 7 pt. each. Final results are as under: 1) Manush Manish Shah - 7.5 pt. 4) Karan Trivedi - 7 pt. 2) Karatavya Anadkdat - 7.5 pt. 5) Ankit Chudasama - 7 pt. 3) Joy Pankaj Shah - 7 pt. Total cash prize of Rs.75,000/- was awarded to first 20 winners alongwith medals for all U-13 players by Bhavesh Patel (CEO, Gujarat State Chess Association), Silva Patel (Director, Karnavati Club), Mayur Patel (Vice President, Gujarat State Chess Association), Samir Shah (Treasurer, Gujarat State Chess Association) and Sekhar Chandra Sahu. First four players will represent Gujarat State in National tournament.

MANUSH MANISH SHAH LEADS WITH 6.5 PT. AFTER 7TH ROUND

This tournament is organized by Gujarat State Chess Association in association with V Popular. After completion of 7th round Manush Manish Shah leads with 6.5 pt. Kartavya Anadkat and Karan Trivedi stood on 2nd and 3rd position respectively with 6 pt. each. In seventh round Manush beat Joy Shah. In 8th round Manush will fight against Karan Trivedi. During 7th round Kartavya beats Ankit Chudasama while Karan beats Sneh Dave of Jamnagar and hold 6 pt. each. Total 9 round will be played during this tournament. Outstation (outside Ahmedabad) will be provided free lodging facilities by Gujarat State Chess Association. Total cash prize of Rs.75,000/- will be awarded to first 20 winners alongwith that all U-13 players will be awarded with medal. Best four players will represent Gujarat State in National tournament. The said tournament will conclude on 4.3.2020.

Udit Kamdar and Manush Shah stood on 2nd and 3rd position respectively with 4.5 pt. each. In fifth round Joy P. Shah drew a match with Chudasama Ankit. In sixth round Joy will fight against Falgun Purohit. During 5th round Udit Kamdar beats Shailesh Rawal while Manush beats Sanjeet Manohar and hold 4.5 pt. each. Total 9 round will be played during this tournament. Outstation (outside Ahmedabad) will be provided free lodging facilities by Gujarat State Chess Association.
